OSIM Beijing Triathlon ITU World Cup 2006 , which took place on the 2008 Olympic course, was held successfully in Beijing recently. 170 athletes from 30 countries has attended this competition. Frederic Belaubre of France and Portugal's Vanessa Fernandes won the men's and women's title respectively.
Australian Brad Kahlefeldt, the current World No 1 on the International Triathlon Union (ITU) rankings, was overwhelmed after competing on the course. "It is amazing," he said after the competition. "It is one of the most professional routes I have ever seen.''
The official triathlon route for the Beijing Games is now 90 per cent ready for 2008, according to the president of the ITU, who said it was shaping up to be one of the world's best.
